He studied Linguistics and Lexicography at the University of Knightsbridge, (Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics - his thesis was Bilingual Lexicography in Greece) and he devoted himself to English-Greek lexicography. Sensing the fast interaction of languages in the digital age, he envisaged a constantly updated dictionary which would be an indispensable reference tool for the modern user. MAGENTA developed the English-Greek Golden Version electronic dictionary with his cooperation. Panagiotis Tsampounaras passed away in June 2001, leaving behind him a unique heritage for the Greek language, and the pleasure of meeting a rare individual to all of us whose paths crossed with his.
