Extensions for Windows Explorer » Batch rename files The Rename Files Extension allows you to batch rename files. You can select to replacepart of their names or another element, or the conversion of the characters of the names from lower case to upper case.
In order to rename the files you have to enter what has to be renamed into what. For example, if you want to change the extension of the files from ".JPG" to ".GIF", then you have to enter on the first box ".JPG" and on the second ".GIF". As special functions you can convert all characters to upper and lower case. You can rename all the files which match certain criteria and not to all, i.e. Word files. This can be done be defining a name filter as it is done in the Select files extension:
Therefore, you can enter *.DOC for all Word files or ca*.DOC for all Word files starting with "ca". The check for file rename can be done only on the current folder and its subfolders by activating the corresponding option.
