Religion does not belong to the religious only but to all people, irrespective of whether they adhere to a faith or not or how fervently they do so. Religious people adhere to one of the historical religions, but religion per se is not the property of any religious person. It is an open system which interacts with its social and historical milieu, having its own dynamics and being subject to change. It is an integral part of the human cicilization, a historical phenomenon and it belongs to the social becoming.

The Dictionary of Religion is a comprehensive tool, written in an impartial and objective way. It is not a "religious" textbook nor a "theological" dictionary.

The contributors (mostly young Greeks) are religious studies experts, sociologists, anthropologists and other scholars.

The entries are informative, precise, clear and comprehensive.
